Condensed milk iced coffee in a pitcher and mug

Re-create that creamy, sweet, coffee shop magic in the comfort of your own kitchen with this easy and delicious Iced Coffee with Sweetened Condensed Milk. It's the perfect party pitcher for your next Sunday brunch, afternoon coffee with friends on the patio, or your first morning cup o' joe.

This ridiculously simple recipe is a great way to welcome the day. Double or triple the batch for a big party, or make one batch and sip on it all week long.

    Ingredients to make this recipe:

ingredients for recipe laid out on the counter and labeled.

Brewed black coffee: traditional drip coffee is my go-to for this recipe, but the options are endless. Use an equivalent amount of prepared instant coffee, French press brew, prepared iced coffee concentrate, or use your espresso machine to brew an equivalent number of shots of espresso.

Sweetened condensed milk: nothing fancy here, just a can of the good stuff. Eagle Brand is a common variety in your local grocery store, but a store brand works just as well. If you have milk, butter, sugar and vanilla extract, you can make your own sweetened condensed milk at home using this recipe from Add a Pinch.

Full measurements and directions included in the printable recipe card below.

    Step by step instructions:

Brew coffee to your desired strength. Pour coffee into a heat proof pitcher (or a large heat proof bowl).

Add one can of sweetened condensed milk to the coffee and stir to combine. Let the sweetened milk melt and incorporate fully into the hot coffee. Cover and refrigerate.

When ready to serve, add ice to a glass and pour coffee mixture over the ice. Bonus points if you've already chilled your mason jar!

    FAQ's and Serving Suggestions:

Can I make this refreshing drink into a hot beverage?

Absolutely! For a hot version of this great recipe, add sweetened condensed milk to hot coffee and serve immediately.

Should I add vanilla extract or other flavoring?

Adding flavored extract is completely optional. Sweetened condensed milk has vanilla and caramel undertones, so I enjoy this drink as a 2-ingredient wonder without extra flavoring.

How do I keep my iced coffee from getting watered down?

Chilling your creamy coffee mixture before adding it to a frozen glass with ice cubes will slow the melting ice and keep your coffee full bodied and flavorful. Another option is to make a tray of coffee ice cubes (just pour brewed coffee into your ice cube tray and freeze!) When the coffee ice cubes melt, they just add more amazing coffee flavor to your drink, keeping the flavor robust.

Can I make this iced coffee drink ahead of time and store?

Absolutely. Just be sure your coffee is in an airtight container or covered tightly to maintain the best taste. I often make my coffee and sweeten it, then refrigerate and drink a few glasses a day for the next 2-3 days.
