Ingredients
Scale
- 2-3 catfish fillets (12 ounces total)
- 1 tablespoon blackened seasoning
- 1 teaspoon rice flour
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- Lemon wedges, for serving
- Tartar Sauce, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees.
- Combine blackened seasoning and rice flour in a small bowl. Dry fish fillets very well. Sprinkle lightly with seasoning on the flat side of the fish. Turn over and sprinkle top of fish generously with seasoning. Using a pastry brush, dot the seasoned fish with butter all over, ensuring the seasoning sticks to the fillets.
-
Place fillets, buttered side up, into the fryer basket, leaving space between the fish to promote air flow. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, until cooked through and flaky. Serve with lemon wedges and tartar sauce.
Notes
- Storage: Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
- Reheating: For best results, reheat in air fryer at 350 degrees for 3-4 minutes to restore crispiness. Avoid microwave reheating which can make the fish rubbery.
- Let the fish rest at room temperature for 10-15 minutes before cooking for more even results.
- Keep portions to similar sizes for consistent cooking.
- If your fillets are thicker than 1 inch, add 2-3 minutes to cooking time.
