Rustic French Apple Tart

The perfect way to welcome apple season to your kitchen. This classic French apple tart features a thin, flaky crust topped with tender apples glazed in a cinnamon-scented jam.

Ingredients:

puff pastry Pink Lady apples (or your favorite baking apple) all purpose flour butter brown sugar apricot jam cinnamon

Let's Get Cooking

1. Prep Puff Pastry

Unroll 14-inch circle of puff pastry and place on parchment-lined baking pan.

Sprinkle the pastry round with 1 tablespoon of flour and 1 tablespoon of brown sugar.

2. Assemble Tart

Peel apples and cut into very thin slices, using a mandolin or a sharp knife.

Arrange apples in concentric circles on the puff pastry, leaving a small border around the edges.

Gently brush apples and pastry edge with melted butter.

Sprinkle final 2 tbs of brown sugar over tart.

Bake apple tart for 30-35 mins, until the crust is crisp and the apples are bubbly and deeply browned in areas.

3. Make Glaze

Heat apricot jam and a pinch of cinnamon with a little water until thinned and spreadable.

Brush cinnamon apricot glaze over the warm apple tart. Cut into wedges and serve.
