Ingredients:

cold smoked salmon pickles and olives cheddar cheese brie tinned fish in olive oil crackers/baguette slices fresh fruit large shrimp  mussels or oysters fresh herbs rock salt pretzel sticks or bread sticks for tree trunk Italian Salsa Verde Cocktail Sauce (feel free to customize with your fave foods!)

Let's Get Building

1. Build Tree

Use a tree-shaped board, or simply cut a piece of parchment into a triangle and place on a clean counter.

Starting at the bottom, pour rock salt to hold the seafood on the half-shell. Then position the shells onto the salt.

Lay down lemon slices, then  poached shrimp (store-bought works great here!) over the lemons.

Break up the seafood party with a layer of fresh fruit, berries or veggies.

Build a row of crackers or baguette slices punctuated by tinned fish in olive oil or your favorite smoked fish dip.

Green olives, kalamata olives or your favorite marinated pickles come next along with a couple of cheeses.

Choose a one-bite wonder like cheese-stuffed pickled peppers for a pop of flavor and color on the board.

Build a smoked salmon rose as the star on top of your Christmas tree charcuterie. Or substitute a salami rose for the meat-eaters at your party.

Finish building the tree with pretzels or bread sticks for the trunk.

2. Decorate Tree

Add garnishes like rosemary sprigs to highlight the shape of a tree and salsa verde on the mussels or oysters.

Take a bow, chef!
